Best thing to do is explore the site, read the articles, read the forum, ask questions on the forum to clarify your own thinking of real estate investing.

You have to jump in with both feet and get wet!

When reading the articles and forum entries, formulate you own opinions, based on your individual location, laws, and individual financial situation.  Everyone who starts out in RE Investing, has to start somewhere, whether you're taught by friends, family or other experienced people, like there are here.

You've made a good choice on where to begin, and see if it is something you'd truly be interested in pursuing.

If you don't own yet, buy. I remember when I first started out someone told me to buy the worst peice of property in the best possible place.  If you already own try buying some new constuction or resale condo to rent out. there are easy to rent and maintain.
