I don't think that particular tape would be as effective as you think...  as history tells us, the people have a capacity to forgive...  I could see a response ad showing Obama accepting Wilson's immediate apology the next day, where Obama says "we all make mistakes", and then the question is asked - "the president moved on the next day, why is so-and-so STILL holding onto this over a year later? Could it be he wants to distract you from his record?... blah-blah-blah"  It would also demonstrate Wilson's opponents INcapacity to forgive and let things go, and show the pettiness and lack of class of using it in an advertisement...  too many negatives to make it a positive...

They know this... which is why you probably won't see it in any ad... things like that sometimes backfire...  the risk would be to great for that to happen...


Personally, I think the advertisements that will be generated from the August recess hold the potential for the most damage in next years elections... how that will play out is a long way away...

If they ram this healthcare bill through which a majority oppose the democrats seal their own coffin next election.I personally think it's sealed anyway with them betting all their chips on sucha radical racist for president,but passing the bill too will finalize it.I'm more concerned with the shredding of the constitution that's going on while most people are watching the same old ping pong match that does'nt matter.

I think telling the truth is a GOOD THING!  Osama IS a liar and IS trying to institute socialism in the US.  He was lying about just everything he said.  Obama DOES intend to cover all the illegals with health insurance - paid for by ME!  Obama's socialized health care WILL add greatly to the deficit and national debt.  Obama IS destroying the country before our very eyes.   Calling him a LIAR is a good thing.  Calling him a SOCIALIST would be even better!

Everybody lies and we don’t cal them liars.  It is called being civil.  That is why when see a woman with a baby you don’t say that baby looks like an old man.  Because all babies look like old men but it is not civil to do that.  Now about if Obama is lying or not.  Although all politicians lie, in this case he can’t be lying because there is no bill.  He can’t even write a bill.  Congress writes the bill.  Joe Wilson can write anything he wants into that bill.  That is his job.  He needs to get in the meetings and do the dirty sausage making it takes to get whatever he is trying to say in the bill. 

Now about being socialists.  We are all socialists.  Every time we call to report a pot hole, we are using a socialist program that is designed to provide roads for as all.  When we send out kids to school we are using a socialist program of public schools.  When somebody breaks into our house and we call the police we are using a socialist program for common law enforcement.  We just only want the socialist things that we want and not the socialist things that we don’t’ want.

Now about calling Obama a liar.  That is one more aspect of the Regan legacy.  The only thing that Ronald Reagan did was to make us comfortable with our prejudices.  We believe that as long as we are acting “conservative” it is ok not to be civil.  Reagan’s legacy makes us feel that anybody that is not conservative is somehow not worthy of an opinion or some how less than human and deserves to be killed or yelled at.  It is like I said earlier the difference between a conservative and a liberal.  Is that liberals hate unborn people and conservatives hate everybody else.

I would respectfully submit, you are not entirely familair with the Constitution... re-read and then try to make the above argument...  you can make the argument for the REAL socialist programs out there, which is what we argue about all the time... that does not make them any less socialist...

That is what you send congressmen up there to do.  They are not there to say that  because I am not in the majority I will just sit there and yell out insults.

Actually that is how it works.  The making of the sausage comment is about just that.  What you have to do is offer things in trade that the democrats will take in trade to put your stuff into the bill.  That is why when the republicans decided they were not going to play ball they don’t get to say how the bill looks.  Why do we end up with a bill that includes a bridge to nowhere or a funded study on the mating habits of monkeys?  That was given to some obscure legislator in trade for his support on some other more important legislation.  That is not pretty but it is how the game is played.  That is why it is equated to making sausage.  If the republicans want to just sit there and yell, history will viewed them as either being on the sidelines when the most important law was passed or having a tantrum instead of preventing the biggest mistake from being made.  Either way they are not doing the country a service.

So you are saying that there are degrees of socialism.  I see.  So you are saying that all socialism is not bad.  You need to stop hiding behind the socialist bush and actually say why you don’t like those parts of the bill.  The government in an effort to promote the general welfare will do some things in a socialist manner.  This is one of those things that work better as a socialist endeavour like air traffic control, social security, and health insurance.

Joe Wilson is a rep for South Carolina not Alabama.I read of another repub that just walked out and said he was tired of the same old speech with no details when asked later.This is exactly what Wilson should've done.He actually seems like a good rep from what I've read.And you are exactly right in the times we're are in.I think we're about to see a real shift in the next few years that'll send a shockwave of reality to the govt both dems &Repubs that they are public servants and we are in control of our own lives...Period.
