Hi.  I would like to set up a management company to manage my rental
properties and do the bookkeeping myself.  Any ideas on where to find
instruction on the accounting aspect?  Everything else seems nailed down
pretty well, but I haven't found anything substantial on the accounting aspect.

Thanks.

Since you already have Quickbooks, check out this product

http://www.reiclub.com/products/121

Or, you could try Quicken Rental Property Manager instead of Quickbooks.
