Yep.  Used these on a water heater I had to move while I replaced a floor.  Just cut the copper pipes to get it out and put these fittings on when I reinstalled it.  Good stuff.

Ive seen these too but they just don't seem "right". I still sweat my copper joints. I use a MAP gas torch with a pushbutton ignition and it barely takes any longer than the sharkbite. And for PVC/CPVC and ABS, I just use the right glue.

Or copper compression if the mainline doesn't fully shut off.

They don't look like they should work.  Looks like there's a gap between the plastic and metal, but they work well.

What scares the hell out of me with this kind of plumbing is the plastic.  The water that goes to your faucets and tubs has chlorine in it to keep the algae and bacteria out of it.  Chlorine causes plastic to get brittle and crack.  It's one thing to use ABS because the walls are quite thick and all the air that comes in with the water from the drain and the roof vents lets the chlorine evaporate, but for 100% of the volume inside the pipes as water?  Do you remember the class lawsuits with polybylene plastic plumbing?  The chlorine is causing them to spontaneoussly split open and do a ton of water damage. http://www.polybutylene.com/test.html

I'm justing waiting to hear all the complaints with sharkbites spraying at the plastic joints because it's a relatively new product.
