My first post.

My brother-in-law has purchased properties in probate in California.  I am curious if a similar set of laws is in place in Texas.  deal  That's one question.

Second question how do I find out about probate sales in the Austin/San Antonio/Waco markets?

estaban,

Welcome to the board. Sorry to leave you hanging without a response.

Probates are usually listed in the paper. Either the local daily paper or sometimes the legal paper depending on where you live.

You should make a trip down to your local probate court. They will usually let you pull some files to look through. Probates are public information. Each courthouse has it's own set of rules regarding the files. You can also sit in on a probate hearing if you'd like.

There's a lot of courthouse leg work with probates. After you find one you want to go after, i.e. an estate with real estate in it, you have to contact the executor of the estate and begin negotiations. A lot depends on if there was a will or not.

Good luck.
