Hi -
What is the per minute charge on these toll free numbers?

If I have the number routed to my cell phone and I pick up the call, is that when the per minute charge starts? (e.g. 1 cent a minute and I pick up the call for 10 minutes = 10 cents)? How about voicemail? If someone leaves a voicemail for 30 seconds, is this charged a minute?

Thanks and sorry for the dumb questions. I'm just trying to figure out how toll free numbers work.

Thanks

There are no dumb questions. We all asked these same questions when we first started in the business.

Yes there is a per minute charge and it does start when you pick up the phone. I can't tell what service will cost in your area but with Telcan who I use for my house buying business in California (varies across states) it's 3.9 cents per minute. But there is a lot of benefits to it. I wrote a whole peice in my blog if you want to check it out you can find the address in my signature.

Does anyone know of, or know of a website reference to, the best-priced 800 number options?

I think it varries by state. However in California for my house buying business I use Telcan because of the price and features you get. I think unitel is a little cheaper but they don't even have a website.

I don't think I can give a referral in the forums about a specific service, so I won't do it here. But I am very happy with my service. Toll-free, address look-up, voicemail, fax, opportunity to choose your number, route it anywhere.

E-mail me and I'll send you the info.
